Council Scout legal
Privacy Policy
Draft wording for review before launch. This is not legal advice.
Information you provide
- Council Scout uses account details such as your name, email address, company name and password authentication details to run your account.
- Area coverage, project preferences, saved opportunities, contacted records, notes and follow-up settings are used to provide your opportunity feed.
- If billing is enabled, payment details are handled by the billing provider rather than by Council Scout pages.
Public planning information
- Council Scout displays public planning information from council planning sources, including application references, addresses, descriptions, statuses, dates, source links and council document links where available.
- Public contact information may be shown when it appears in, or can be reasonably associated with, the public planning record.
- Council Scout links to council planning documents but does not host or mirror those documents inside the app.
Sessions, logs and retention
- Council Scout uses a session cookie so signed-in users can access their account.
- Operational logs may be kept to keep the service secure and diagnose problems.
- You can ask for support with account access, deletion or export requests using the support route provided by the business before launch.
Requested contact lookup and objections
- A signed-in customer may request a lookup for a person or organisation named in a public planning application. Council Scout uses the name and application location to check publicly visible sources and only saves a contact result when the identity and location can be matched.
- Contact details are shown with their source. Customers are told to verify the identity, check the Telephone Preference Service before marketing calls, explain where details came from and honour objections.
- To object, request access or ask for an enriched contact detail to be removed, contact the support contact shown by Council Scout. Verified objections are placed on a suppression list so matching details are not shown again.
Source verification
Details should be checked against the original council planning source before making decisions. Council Scout keeps links to council sources where available and does not host planning documents.
